Artist Biography.

Born in 1974, Philippa is an artist specialising in contemporary British seascapes, landscapes and still lifes. Many of her paintings depict the Surrey and Hampshire countrysides near to her home, as well as the rugged coastlines of Cornwall, and the Isles of Scilly. Her style is bold, instinctive and invigorating, using brushes and palette knives to capture the character and immediacy of her subject matter. She produces innovative interpretations of the land and sea through her fluid use of paint. Her passion for colour and texture is evident throughout her work.

Philippa has been painting since her youth. She graduated from Sotheby’s Institute of Art in 1997, before beginning her career as a professional artist. Although largely self-taught, she has developed her skill and technique by studying regularly at the Heatherley School of Fine Art in London, and the Newlyn Art School in Cornwall, where she has recently completed a one year studio practice course.

Philippa's 'Constantine Bay, 2018' wins First Prize in the Professional Artists category of the Penzance Art Festival 2021
