A love of painting took hold early on in Philippa’s life. During her school days she recognised a natural leaning towards colour, texture and observing landscapes.

Philippa subsequently went on to study English & Education at Cambridge University. However, she became aware that her true passion lay in the art world, and in 1996 she won a scholarship to study Fine & Decorative Art at Sotheby’s Institute in London where she graduated three years later with a 2(i) degree.

After completing her training, Philippa turned down an offer to join Sotheby’s British Pictures Department, and instead went to work for the London art dealer Messum’s. While there, she found herself particularly inspired by the artworks of the late Wilfred de Glehn and John Singer Sargent, and by fellow artists she met, Kurt Jackson and Philip Hicks. This proved the catalyst in her decision to pursue a career as a professional artist.

Philippa has demonstrated her versatility over time by painting a broad range of subjects, she works mainly in oil and specialises in still lives, landscapes and seascapes.

Philippa has also donated works to the annual Macmillan De’Longhi charity art auction, alongside such artists as Gavin Turk, Trace Emin and Damien Hirst.
