BIOGRAPHY
Born in 1974, Philippa is an artist who specialises in contemporary British seascapes and landscapes, and still lifes. Many of her paintings depict the Surrey and Hampshire countrysides near to her home, as well as the rugged coastlines of Cornwall, and the Isles of Scilly. Her style is bold, instinctive and invigorating, using brushes and palette knives to capture the character and immediacy of her subject matter. She produces innovative interpretations of the land and sea through her fluid use of paint, and her passion for colour and texture is evident throughout her work.
Philippa has been painting since her youth. She graduated from Sotheby’s Institute of Art in 1997, before beginning her career as a professional artist. Although largely self-taught, she has developed her skill and technique by studying regularly at the Heatherley School of Fine Art, and the Newlyn Art School. She works out of her home studio, although she often paints en plein air. She exhibits regularly in the UK, and her work is widely held in private collections.
